Henrik Hissa, 18, begins to see the rewards of his dedication to his studies and his willingness to help others. He was in high school when he created metavers to help other students in the biology class. The project “Development of Immersive Metavers Applied to Astrobiology Teaching” won third place in the ISEF (Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair) – Science Competition “World Cup”.

This earned him a place at a university in the United States.

While many are trying to figure out what Metavers is, Hisa spent two years researching and developing a project that would increase access to education using high technology.

Under the guidance of Professor Tiago Bode, Hisa created a virtual environment to help BNCC (Base National Comm Curriculum) develop the necessary skills through problems and challenges. It is possible to immerse oneself in the environment and narrative developed by the student with virtual reality glasses.

Two years were devoted to the development of the project. In its first year, Hissa developed the concept and created the virtual environment, and the project was awarded in 2021 by the Fabres (Brazilian Science and Engineering Fair) held annually at the USP (University of S साo Paulo).

The second phase of the project involved the development of a virtual environment. “At all stages, I used free, open-source and open-source software, showing that it is possible to develop projects without interruptions; computers and virtual reality glasses are provided by the school.”

With the completion of the project, a new selection was made to participate in the awards and Isef at Mostratech (International Science and Technology Exhibition). “I went personally as one of the delegates to the Brazilian delegation and it was an incredible experience in the partnership of the colleagues and during the presentation.”

The ISEF brought together 1,750 finalists from 63 countries, with Brazil’s Henrik Hisa finishing third. Representing the ‘Science World Cup’, he was one of the three best people in the world at the fair and, if encouraged, shows that the research produced in Brazil is of a high standard.

Prior to ISEF, Brazilian students received more than 20 awards for their scientific research, including first place at Fabres and Mosttech, the Federation Award for Best Scientific Pre-Initiation Project in the State of Sao Paulo, and the award given by the National Youth Science Foundation to the US Consulate.

International awards open doors for universities in the United States. He begins his studies at the University of Minnesota in September of this year. (Source: R7)
